Constitutional Flaws Kill Local Government Administration in Nigeria. . . University Don.

Edo NYCN crisis gets messier as committees distance self from purported election

The protracted crisis distabilizing  the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Edo State chapter is getting intense  by the day as its Electoral Committee and the Congress Planning Committee, yesterday, distance selves from an election purportedly conducted by an alleged faction of the state chapter of the NYCN. Chairman of the Edo State Youth Council Electoral Committee, Comrade Dove Igeri and Chairman of the Congress Planning Committee, Comrade Jolly Osahon, stated their stand as regard the purported election while addressing newsmen in Benin City. The duo said that their committee, made up of seven  members where never part of the election.  The both speakers said the election of the newly executives was postponed because the national body has not provided the needed logistics. From Chris Akhabue  President, World Medical Association (WMA), Dr. Osahon Enabulele, yesterday, advised electorates not to cast their votes for candidates who have no clear- cut approach of how they intend to improve the health sector in the country. He made the call yesterday when he paid a condolence visit to the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe. While addressing journalists at the occasion, he appealed to Nigerians to look beyond the immediate and personal gains but to look at the future, just as he challenged them to look out for the candidates’ health manifestos before casting their votes. The Edo State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalist, Comrade Festus Alenkhe has urged members of Federated Chapel to join hands with the new Executive led by Mercy Onyenweli to enable adequate progress in the chapel. The Chairman stated this while commending Executive ànd members of the chapel who were in his office on behalf of all members of the chapel to register their support ahead of the State Chairman late mother's  burial. By Chris Akhabue  The  Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR,  the Oba of Benin has said that Mrs Rose Akuogbe Alenkhe, the mother of the Edo NUJ chairman Comrade Festus Alenkhe, lived a fulfilled and successful life.  The remark is contained in a condolence message signed on behalf of the Omo N'Oba, Chief S. 0. Obamwonyi, the Esere of Benin Kingdom. According to the message,  " this is to convey the  Oba  Palace condolence over the passing away of your dear mother, Mrs Rose Alenkhe, at the age of 76 years and to add that Mrs Rose Alenkhe lived a successful and fulfilled life, and that her loyalty and that of the entire Alenkhe family to the Palace have not been in doubt".  "The Omo N’Oba prays God and the ancestors to give all those she left behind the fortitude to bear the sad loss, and grant her soul eternal rest", the message concluded.

Abure  made this disclosure while addressing party faithfuls in an event held in Benin City yesterday to appreciate leadership of the party and various support groups and every member that  made the rally a success. He said that those who benefited in the struggle to enthrone democracy and the rule of law where those bent on truncating the Labour Party's rally in Benin City.  He said, " those our enemies who benefited from our struggle for the enthronement of democracy and the rule of law where the ones bent on truncating our planned rally in Benin City on the 11th of November".
