Edeko eulogises Edoghor of Uromi, AVM Anthony Okpere, at 80

The Deputy Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon(Mrs.) Maria Omozele Oligbi-Edeko Esq, on Monday congratulated Air Vice Marshall Anthony Ebehijele Okpere (Rtd), the Edoghor of Uromi Kingdom, on his 80th birthday anniversary.

Edeko in a congratulatory message described AVM Anthony Ebehijele Okpere (Rtd) as a respectable elder statesman, nation builder of high intelligence, integrity, courageous, truthful, and a patriarch of his family.

She said: “On this auspicious occasion of your 80th birthday, I am filled with joy as I join well-meaning Nigerians, Edo people and particularly indigenes of Esan land in celebrating you, my father, and our father.

"As a former Minster of Aviation and a true father, you have made a remarkable impact on our lives with your undying love for your people and we commend you for the legacy you have built in the state and Nigeria,'.

On behalf of the good people of Edo State and Esan North-East II, I pray that God grant you eternal joy and fulfillment. I wish you many more years of good health and sound mind for many more celebrations to come.

Catholic Priest dumps Christianity for traditional religion after completing PhD on rainmaking

Dr Echezona Obiagbaosogu, a Catholic priest, has abandoned Christianity for African traditional religion after his PhD project. His PhD project is said to be on rainmaking in Igboland and he said the insight he gained during his research made him change the course of his spiritual pursuit. According to reports , Obiagbaosogu, who teaches African Traditional Religion at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, in Anambra State, said he was fascinated by the traditional African spirituality and the art of rainmaking. After defending his PhD Dissertation titled “Rainmaking and Control in Igbo African Medicine,” on Wednesday, he said Africa possesses enormous resources and value which have been eroded by colonial powers. Fake palm oil is said to have entered several markets in six states of Nigeria and is still spreading into others. A few arrests, according to reports, have been made, and laboratory testing of seized samples revealed high acid content, and other substances believed to cause cancer. Market dealers and sellers have raised alarm over the fake and adulterated palm oil now selling in markets across Nigeria.
