Edo 2024: Dr ASUE Ighodalo, Osarodion Ogie Campaign Team Brief Edo Journalists ... Edo state had made more progress when PDP was in charge of the affairs of Edo state- Mathew Iduoriyekemwen





The Director General of the Dr Asue Ighodalo and Barr Osarodion Ogie Campaign Organization, Rt Hon Mathew Iduoriyekemwen, one time commissioner of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has said that Edo state and Nigeria had made more progress when the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) was in charge of the affairs of the state just like Nigeria has made the most progress when the PDP was in charge of the country.

He made the observation during a press briefing when he and his team paid a visit to the leadership of the Edo NUJ council in Benin City earlier today 

According to him he said that the team is desirous to succeed in all that they intend to do in the course of their duty during the electioneering and so the press would be instrumental to the success and hence the need to interface with Edo Journalists.

" Passing the right messages across and getting the people to understand the messages is very important and that is why the role of Journalists is very crucial in this regard because we do not want to be misunderstood at any point in time in the course of this assignment and we don't also want our messages to be misconstrued or misrepresented by the very intelligent people that constitute the voters of Edo state.

" As a starting point, I thought it wise and necessary to interface with the media people in Edo state most especially when there are so many false and misinformation making the round and that is the reason why the media must be carried along at all times.

Going further, he said that, "Asue Ighodalo team is the right team to take Edo further to the next level of progress in institutional building and reforms that would take Edo people to the level of pride in the comity of nations and for that reason we are committed to it and we want all Edo People to key into it.

"We want Edo people to look at the credentials of Asue Ighodalo, his antecedents, his pedigree, his background and the experience considering where he is coming from and see the advantage of seeing such a person pilot the affairs of the state beyond the Godwin Obaseki led PDP administration.

Speaking further, he said that the state and Nigeria in general had made more progress only when the PDP was in power.

" Edo state had made more progress when the PDP is in charge of the affairs of the state just like Nigeria has made the most progress when the PDP is in charge".

He concluded by saying that Edo state needs a government that is sensitive to the yearnings of the people, a government that will bring prosperity to all and above all a government that is accountable to the people adding that, such is what the Asue Ighodalo and Barr Osarodion Ogie represent.

Responding, the Chairman of the Edo NUJ, Comrade Festus Alenkhe thanked the team for coming, adding that the Edo NUJ was apolitical stressing that the Union would welcome and listen to all political parties and give equal and adequate report to their messages. He therefore advised Edo Journalists to be ethical in all their reportage.

Catholic Priest dumps Christianity for traditional religion after completing PhD on rainmaking

Dr Echezona Obiagbaosogu, a Catholic priest, has abandoned Christianity for African traditional religion after his PhD project. His PhD project is said to be on rainmaking in Igboland and he said the insight he gained during his research made him change the course of his spiritual pursuit.
