Edo APC Urged Edo Assembly To Initiate impeachment Moves Against Obaseki

The lingering war of words between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) with regards to the shooting and killing of inspector Inspectors Akor Onuh at the Benin City Airport last Thursday is taking a new turn as the Edo APC Chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe has called on the Edo State House of Assembly and other relevant authorities to call Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki to order so as to avoid what he described as anarchy and breakdown of law and order in Edo State and Nigeria.

In a recent Press release, Jarrett Tenebe has alleged that the governor had made threats to burn down the country if the killers of Inspectors Akor Onuh at the Benin City Airport were arrested by the Police.

According to the statement, "In the last 24 hours, Nigerians from all walks of life have been treated to a melodrama wherein the Edo State Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki gloated like a villain in a video, threatening to burn down Nigeria, if the murderers of Inspectors Akor Onuh at the Benin City Airport are arrested by the Police.

He further added that the incident of last Thursday in which inspector Akorn Onuh was shot and killed was a case of several examples of extra judicial killings in the state and therefore calls on the Edo State House of Assembly to initiate impeachment moves against the governor

"The avoidable tragic incident of last Thursday July 18, 2024 is a vivid example of how far the state sponsored extra judicial killings have been going on, but covered by the state government with deceptive reports of inter-cult fights in the state. It was time this madness stops. It is time to stop Mr. Obaseki before he carries out his threat.

"We are therefore calling on the State House of Assembly to immediately condemn Obaseki's reckless and dangerous threat to burn down Nigeria

"Additionally, to forestall and end his unprecedented heinous plans, we are urging the speaker and members of Edo State House of Assembly to immediately start his impeachment process that has become overdue.

Reacting to the allegations against Godwin Obaseki by the APC,, the Edo Commissioner of Communication and Orientation Chris Osa Nehikhare Stated that what the governor said was that free and fair election should be allowed to hold sway in Edo so as not to trigger major crisis in the country

"For the records, we want to restate the comments of the governor on that occasion which is that: “If a free and fair election is not allowed to hold sway in Edo State on September 21, 2024, it will trigger a major crisis in Nigeria.”

"While we urge all Edo people to go about their lawful businesses without fear, we call on the Nigerian Police to do its job and apprehend the hoodlums, most of whom have been positively identified and captured in videos, carrying firearms at the location of the crisis".
