A chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), in Ekiti State, Mr. Dare Owolabi, has commended the leadership of the party for the endorsement of the incumbent Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) as the APC governorship candidate for the Ekiti State gubernatorial election slated for 2026.     The management of Osiomo power company says it remains committed to the rule of law, protection of its assets, rapid industrial and economic development, and peaceful coexistence within the ambit of the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, ably led by Dr. Festus Alenkhe has congratulated Prince Kassim Afegbua on his well deserved appointment as commissioner of Information and strategy. Mr. Emmanuel Eguare, Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon and Clinical Director at NAAS General Hospital, Ireland, on Tuesday donated a variety of medical equipment and consumables to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH). Congress of Nigerian University Academics (CONUA), University of Benin chapter, yesterday, accused members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of allegedly assaulting its members. The chairman of the union, Comrade Ishaq Osagie Eweka, made the allegation while speaking with journalists in Benin. He alleged that members of ASUU invaded the classroom when students were writing their exams and forcefully evicted them. Comrade Eweka said that the lecturers were not spared as they were allegedly rough handled by members of ASUU who were carrying out their order. Some indigenes and residents of Okhuoromi Community in Oredo local government area of Edo State earlier today staged a peaceful protest to register their displeasure against the alleged plan to reinstate Ovbokhan Igbinovia, a former Ohen of Okhuoromi.  The protesters, who defiled the early morning downpour marched through major streets of Benin and called relevant authorities and the Edo State governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, and the Edo State Police Command to intervene, warning that such a move would pose a direct threat to peace and unity in the community. The contractor handling the Benin-Asaba Expressway and concessionaire of the road, the Benin Asaba Expressway Consesion Company (BAECC) has assured motorists and property owners on the road corridor and the general public of the speedy completion of the road and appealed for patience and understanding, noting that the company understands the inconveniences caused by the ongoing construction.  The Contractor made the appeal in a press release to address public concerns regarding the ongoing construction.  In a statement signed by Dr. Jerry Adeyeri, the Communications Manager of BAECC, the company noted that the seasonal rains has slowed dawn the pace of work as planned.
