*INVITATION TO WORLD PRESS CONFERENCE OVER ATTACK ON JOURNALIST* 

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, hereby notifies the general public, security agencies, civil society organisations, and all media houses in the state of an emergency *World Press Conference* scheduled to hold today, Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at the NUJ Press Centre, No. 1 Sir Gabriel Igbinedion Way, GRA, Benin City.

The press conference is convened to address the violent attack on one of our members by Mr. Kelly Okungbowa, popularly known as Ebo Stone. 

The Council considers this assault a direct affront on press freedom, the safety of journalists, and the practice of responsible journalism in Edo State.

All print, electronics, and online media organisations are hereby invited to attend and provide full coverage as the Union states its position and outlines the steps it will take to ensure justice and enhanced protection for journalists across the state.

Catholic Priest dumps Christianity for traditional religion after completing PhD on rainmaking

Dr Echezona Obiagbaosogu, a Catholic priest, has abandoned Christianity for African traditional religion after his PhD project. His PhD project is said to be on rainmaking in Igboland and he said the insight he gained during his research made him change the course of his spiritual pursuit. According to reports , Obiagbaosogu, who teaches African Traditional Religion at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, in Anambra State, said he was fascinated by the traditional African spirituality and the art of rainmaking. After defending his PhD Dissertation titled “Rainmaking and Control in Igbo African Medicine,” on Wednesday, he said Africa possesses enormous resources and value which have been eroded by colonial powers. Warning: Adulterated Palm Oil Enters Markets, Dealer Shares Tips to Recognise Them

Fake palm oil is said to have entered several markets in six states of Nigeria and is still spreading into others. A few arrests, according to reports, have been made, and laboratory testing of seized samples revealed high acid content, and other substances believed to cause cancer. Market dealers and sellers have raised alarm over the fake and adulterated palm oil now selling in markets across Nigeria. According to reports, the product has already infiltrated markets in six states of Nigeria – Imo, Lagos, Yobe, Oyo, Ogun, and Plateau states – and is still spreading to other states.
