Alenkhe Lauds Edo state government For 13th Month Salary

The chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo state council , Dr Festus Alenkhe has joined the workers of Edo state to appreciate the state Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo for his approval to pay Edo state workers 13 months salary in December, 2024.                                         In a Statement in Benin city, Dr Festus Alenkhe said the gesture will go a long way in reducing the economic hardship and the harrowing situation workers are going through today, adding that, the approval of the 13 months salary for workers has further shown the love that Edo state Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has for Edo state workers.     Dr Festus Alenkhe also lauded the state government for paying the November salary in line with the N70,000 minimum wage as earlier approved by the previous administration.   The statement expr...

Protest: Cultural Group Storms Government House To Halt Ongoing Construction Of MOWAA

Youths in their hundreds who are members of a Social Cultural group, Aiguobasinmwin Movement, on Thursday, protested to the Edo State Government House and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Edo State Council Secretariat demanding a halt to the ongoing construction of the Museum of West African Art (MOWAA). The youths in their hundreds also marched through major streets of Benin in the state, calling on the Edo State governor, Monday Okpebholo to intervene and revoke the Certificate of Occupancy of the MOWAA site. The leadership of the affiliate members of the Edo State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress has unanimously passed a vote of Confidence on its state Chairman, Chief Odion Olaiye and Comrade Williams of NUEE, the vice Chairman and subsequently urged the general public to disregard their purported removal, stating that Chief Odion Olaiye remains the Chairman of the Congress adding that the purported removal is illegal, null and void.  In a letter titled Vote Of Confidence signed by some 44 of its affiliate members and made available to the Press earlier today in Benin City, the Edo State capital, the letter asked the general public to disregard the purported removal as it is baseless, unfounded and lacks merit and authenticity, adding that it is the figment of the imagination of the author whom it described as mischief makers.
