CAIMAT Trains, empowers 450 youth to curb irregular migration

From Chris Akhabue Creation of Alternatives to Irregular Migration and Trafficking (CAIMAT), a non governmental organisation based in Benin City, the Edo state vapital, has trained and empowered  four hundred and fifty youths in Benin City and its environ in skills acquisition and other vocational training programs. This was disclosed yesterday in a press briefing  in his Benin City office,by the Project Director, Saliu B.Aidorolo. According to him, the European Union Project through the British Council in Nigeria is implemented in Edo state by four Civil Society Organisation with the aim of providing alternative means of access to   socio-economic alternatives to irregular migration. 2023: Obaseki Plans To Cause Mayhem In Rural Areas With Vigilante- Edo APC

The Edo State All Progressives Congress(APC) has accused the Edo State governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki of plotting to employ the services of Vigilante to disrupt the saturday general election in the rural areas. This was contained in a release signed and made available to the Press by the Party's State Publicity Secretary, Prince (Barr) Peter Uwadiae Igbinigie. According to him, "this is to bring to the notice of the general public, the clandestine and sinister move of the Governor of Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki to use Edo State Vigilante Network to intimidate, harass and cause mayhem during and after the elections particularly in the rural areas of the State.  "It must be noted with serious concern that the Electoral-Act 2022 did not and never envisaged the use of vigilante personnel for Security duties during elections. For the avoidance of doubt, the only Security Agents contemplated in  the Act for security duties during elections is the Police.  "

PDP Has Perfected Plans To Cause Chaos In LP Strongholds- Ogbaloi

The Edo State Labour Party Chairman, Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi   has raised the alarm over plans  by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to creat chaos in  Labour party strongholds with the aim of cancelling the votes in those units.  Ogbaloi, made the allegation shortly after meeting with the state executive members of the party in Benin City earlier today at the party secretariat in Benin City, the Edo state capital. He said the disaffection will be so much that it could lead to a fight between the two political parties supporters at the polling units and this by implication compel the Independent National Electoral Commissioner to call for the cancelations of these units  "We also discussed matters of the opposition parties who have been on our heels, especially in the period now when it is discovered that they have all been at the receiving end. 2023 General Election: Oshiomhole faning embers of electioneering Rascality

  By Chris Akhabue Recall  a few days ago, the Edo State governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki called for the arrest and interrogation of his predecessor and benefactor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the former governor of Edo state in connection with a video that has since gone viral in which Comrade Oshiomhole was  seen allegedly  instigating  some youths to intimidate Labour Party members and their supporters out of Edo state. Not quite long after this, violent protest broke out in the Benin metropolis in connection with the lingering naira scarcity and its attendant hardship. Some aggrieved youth took to the street, breaking  and destroying banks ATM and properties in the process. An owl cried in the night and in the morning a baby who was not  previously ill suddenly died without any verifiable cause.  The mother of the baby, family members and neighbours would definitely  attribute the death of the baby to the ominous nurctunal  owl who may not actually be responsible for the death

The Reliance Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council held their election yesterday at the conference room of the council. The election which was supervised by the leaders of the union was keenly contested by some members of the chapel. From Chris Akhabue The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) today recorded  low turn out  of voters as it  conducted mock accreditation  in preparation for the conduct of the coming general election. At  ward 7 unit 24,  Payne Primary School, Upper mission Road, Benin City, accreditation of prospecting voters started at exactly 9 am as INEC officials were fully on ground for the exercise. The Edo State INEC Resident commissioner, Mr. Obo Effanga who spoke  with the press on the exercise said the purpose is to test- run the BVAS in preparation for the election proper and also to create  awareness among  voters.
