Police Declares Emmanuel Emene Wanted For Homosexuality




The Edo state Police Command has declared one Emmanuel Emene wanted for homosexual related offences.

This was contained in a statement signed and made available to the Press earlier today by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwanbuzor in Benin city the Edo state Capital.

According to the statement, Emmanuel Emene was reported at the Police Force Headquarters through a petition written to the Commissioner of Police by the Odionwere (village Head) of Evbuotubu/Iguediaye community, Pa Edigin Izoduwa.
 
According to the statement, "the accused, Emmanuel Emene, upon investigation was alleged to be a serial offender who the villagers described as a pervert who has severally been accused of homosexual related offences in the past and had been forgiven by the leadership of the community as there were no sufficient evidence for his prosecution 


According to the Police, Emmanuel who is on the run is now wanted by the Police based on a petition by the leadership of Evbuotubu/Iguediaye community who has accused him of serial involvement in homosexuality, an offence considered abominable act by the community dwellers. 


The Police has since declared the said Emmanuel Emene wanted for homosexuality which has been prohibited in Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Bill signed into law on January 7, 2014, by President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria.

Speaking to Newsmen at the palace of the Odionwere (head) of Evbuotubu/ Iguediaye Community, Pa Edigin Izoduwa said that the act for which Emmanuel Emene is wanted by the community and the Police is an abomination against the gods of the land and an offence against Nigeria for which he must be brought before the laws of the land to face the consequences of his abominable way of life since he has refused to be of good behavior after being given several opportunities to be of good behavior.

"The offence Emmanuel Emene is accused of is an abomination before our gods and our forefathers and whoever is found guilty of this offence must be brought to face the consequences of his ungodly actions"

" Emmanuel Emene is a pervert and a serial offender who has slept with many young boys in this our community on a number of occasions in the past and have been forgiven by the leadership of the community after appeasing the gods of the land for the abominable act.

" I am the Odionwere of this community, this same Emmanuel Emene has been caught in this shameful act at several other occasions and has been brought before the leadership of this community and we have been magnanimous by bearing the cost of appeasing the gods of the land and has been warned to desist from the unconscionable and shameful act or face the consequences of his ungodly and unacceptable behavior and since he has refused to be of good behavior, we had no option than to report the matter to the Police and subsequently barnish him from our community because we do not want him to contaminate other morally well behaved people in our community.

The identify of the partner with whom he was caught in the act could not be ascertained as he was said to be on the run 

 Recall that Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Bill signed into law on January 7, 2014, by President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria 
 criminalizes public displays of affection between same-sex couples which imposes a 14-year prison sentence on anyone who enters into same-sex marriage contract and it imposes a 10-year prison sentence on anyone who directly or indirectly make public show of same-sex amorous relationship etc.
