Nigerian Correctional Service Breaks Silence Over Remand Of 15 Aides To Ex-First Lady, Patience Jonathan

By Damilare Adeleye Bayelsa State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), has confirmed that 15 domestic staff working for former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, are legally held at its Medium Security Custodial Centre in Okaka, Bayelsa State. The Correctional Service stated that the staff’s detention was ordered by a court of competent jurisdiction. A report had claimed that the former First Lady had been keeping the aides in custody since 2019 without a fair trial, allegedly using her influence to maintain their detention. However, in a statement dated April 5, 2025, the state Nigerian Correctional Service denied the claims, insisting the detainees were well treated at the custody.
