Edo Needs Policies To Enhance Security, Stimulate Food Sufficiency - Engr Peter Igbinigie Idahosa,
The Oredo East constituency candidate of the Labour Party
(LP) in the 2023 Edo House Of Assembly election, Comrade Engr Peter Igbinigie Idahosa, has said that Edo State House Of Assembly needs to formulate policies that would enhance the current Security architecture so as to Stimulate food sufficiency in the state.
He made the remarks while addressing journalists yesterday in Benin-City the Edo State capital.
According to him, "There are good policies to be made that can significantly transform the lives of the people. For instance, I am a member of the All Farmers Association Of Nigeria ( AFAM) and if I am a House member, I will lobby my co House members to make policies that will guarantee security that will ultimately enhance agricultural productivity which will in turn increase food sufficiency. This can only be achieved if there is enhanced security in our communities particularly in the rural areas and the farming communities so that farmers and the community dwellers would have that sense of security and protection that would guarantee their freedom of movement without fear of being kidnapped which is currently hampering movement and consequently affecting food sufficiency".
He however lamented that there is currently a lack of adequate representation in the Oredo East constituency at the house of assembly.
"Our Constituency at the Edo House Of Assembly is not adequately represented because there are numerous lapses that need to be corrected and when I get elected, I will correct those anomalies.
He said he won the 2023 House Of Assembly election but that the mandate freely given to him by electoral members of his constituency was stolen and given to another person.
"I know I won that House Of Assembly election but the powers that be in that election stole my mandate but I am coming back in 2027 to redeem that electoral fraud that was perpetuated in that 2023 election because I know I have a date with destiny as my people are solidly behind me.
"In that last election, I had no Godfather but the youths of Oroghene and Ukpasia precisely and members of the Oredo East constituency were my support base who actually brought me out to the limelight and supported me even up to the Court Cases following the outcome of the election. They were the ones buying my flight tickets to and from Abuja for the Court Cases and these same people are still there clamouring for my emergence as their representative and I can see that coming to pass because the governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo is paving the way for the APC to win all elections in the state because of his developmental strides in social infrastructure, road and bridges, rural and urban renewal, revamping of the education sector, his fight against insecurity etc. His one year in office has demonstrated an unprecedented development of the state which is an indication of how much more the state will benefit from the people centered governance of Senator Monday Okpebholo's administration in the coming years and this commitment to the development of Edo will surely secure victory for his second tenure and also for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Comrade Idahosa who said he has done very well for his political party, the All Progressives Congress, pointed out that the governor of Edo State Senator Monday Okpebholo is doing very well for the people of Edo State that will guarantee his victory at the governorship polls.
"I have done so well for my political Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). I was the Coordinator general of the Obidient movement for the Okpebholo campaign and we did very well and the governor of Edo State of the APC, Senator Monday Okpebholo is doing very well, transforming the state.
He therefore called on all well meaning individuals to support the Governor's programs and policies aimed at development of the state while calling for a full
collaboration with the government in the fight against insecurity as that is one of the ways we can surmount the current security challenges.
