Free Medicals, Surgeries For Nigerians To Kick-off From Bayelsa in Honour of Dickson - TDM

The Dickson Movement for Democracy has announced plans to commence a nationwide free medical outreach aimed at providing healthcare services to Nigerians, with the first phase scheduled to begin in Bayelsa State at the end of September.

The initiative, according to the National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Emmanuel Ogbidi, he said the Movement, is inspired by the commitment of its Grand Patron, former Bayelsa State Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West, Henry Seriake Dickson, to improving access to healthcare and supporting vulnerable Nigerians.

The movement said that the outreach will provide free medical consultations, treatments, eye care and minor surgical procedures.

The movement said it had engaged medical experts, consultants and specialist doctors in different fields to participate in the programme, which will begin in Bayelsa before being extended to other states. 

According to TDM, the initiative was designed to address some of the immediate healthcare challenges confronting people, particularly those who cannot afford basic medical services.

“We are not only reaching out to the grassroots politically; we are also reaching out to them medically to meet their immediate needs,” the movement said, stressing that the programme would be open to Nigerians irrespective of political, religious or social affiliation.

TDM said preparations were already underway, including the establishment of operational structures, guidelines and arrangements with participating medical professionals. 

It urged Bayelsans and Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity when the outreach begins.

The initiative comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gradually intensify.

However, the Dickson Movement for Democracy said the medical programme was not being organised on the basis of political affiliation, but in alliance with the core value of the Grand Patron  in giving back to the people, as commitment to community service and the provision of direct assistance to citizens.

The movement also commended HE Dist. Senator Dickson for inspiring its members to view leadership as an opportunity to serve and give back to society. 

It said the medical outreach would begin in Bayelsa, the Senator’s home state, before expanding to other parts of the country.
