We have implicit confidence on Barr Julius Abure- Kehinde Rotimi

From Chris Akhabue

The Chairman for  all the Chairmen of Labour Party, the Kwara  state Labour Party Chairman, High chief Kehinde Rotimi, has said that all the 36 states  Labour Party Chairmen across the country have implicit confidence on the national chairman of the party, Barr Julius Abure.

He made the declaration while briefing Journalists in Benin city, the Edo state capital yesterday.

According to him, " we want to use this opportunity to thank Edo people in particular and Nigerians in general for the massive support they gave Labour Party during the last general elections and we want to assure Nigerians that we have put in place every necessary processes to recover our stolen mandate.

Still speaking, he further added that they have decided to come to Benin city in solidarity with the national chairman who he said was wrongly accused and not given fair hearing which he said was against natural justice.

He said, "the illegal decision to suspend the national chairman by ex members of the party falls short of the party's constitutional requirements and therefore it was null and void as it was only the NEC in council that has the constitutional powers to suspend the chairman.

" I therefore advise all to disregard the purported suspension as it was a clear abberation  that needs to be disregarded as it falls short of our constitutional requirements.

" This is the reason why the 36 states Chairmen are gathered in Edo to say no to the illegality by some ex aggrieved members who have since left the party to join other political parti and to reaffirm our implicit and unflinching vote of confidence on our chairman Barr Julius Abure who has done a great job despite all the intimidations and harassment"

On his part, the state chairman of the party, Barr Kelly Ogbaloi said that Labour Party was  currently going through some travails  due to the general elections which he said did not reflect the minds of the electorates.

According to him, " we as labour party members are currently going through some travails because substantial part of the general elections was robbed and because of that we are in court to reclaim the stolen mandate freely given by the people and we are throwing our weight behind our Presidential candidate  Mr Peter Obi because we know that our stolen mandate would be recovered.

"Today we are here because some disidents around us have gone to impersonate some persons from the environment of the national chairman and have gone to make some pronouncements  in Abuja that the chairman is suspended. We are here with all our Chairmen across the 36 states to declare that such pronouncement is total nullity since they do not have the constitutional powers to do what they tried to do.

"We would like to say here that these people are just mere instruments in the hands of opposition parties who are bent on distabilising our party so as to tarnish our integrity. I want to assure you that the security agencies are fully after the culprits and they would soon be apprehended.

"Today, we have again reaffirm our confidence on our national chairman, Barr Julius Abure , who have stood his ground to take the party from where it was in comatose and to rebuild it to where it is today and we thank him for his resilience in making sure we are where we are today and we are here today to repose more confidence on our chairman, Barr Julius Abure.

Also speaking at the occasion, the party national chairman, Barr Julius Abure was full of appreciation for the electorate who he said supported his party during the last general elections even though, according to him, the will of the people was subverted.

He said however, that the current melodrama about suspension was the handiwork of opposition parties who are bent on disrupting and  disorganizing labour party because according to him, they are not comfortable with Labour Party because of its huge strength as demonstrated at the last elections.

According to him, " all the melodrama you are seeing is a clear manifestation of other political parties who are not comfortable with the strength of labour party as exhibited in the last elections and are desperately looking for ways to discredit the party with a view to tarnishing our image.

" Their desperation  has further strengthen my resolve to work more for the party  and the people of Nigeria and I want to say that a new Nigeria is possible and I want to add that no man can stop an idea whose time has come.

"I want to therefore urge all well meaning supporters of labour party and the good people of Nigeria to disregard the purported suspension, he concluded
