A video of a pathetic situation in Ivbioba Primary School, Ugbiokho in Egor Local Government,
Benin City, went viral last week.




In the video, many pupils were seen sitting on bare floor and writing their exams. There were no sufficient chairs and tables for the pupils. It was indeed a disgusting sight.

There is no blinking the fact that many people saw the video-- including those  with the financial wherewithal to assist the school if they wished to, but ignored it.


Shaba Mien Mien called me and asked that I should visit the school to confirm the video. That was last week. He said to me that Dr Dorry Okojie had also seen the video and just needed verification and confirmation to enable him  decide on what to do.

When I arrived the school, I met a group of young men holding conversation with the Headmistress and some teachers.

I was to learn later that Dr Dorry Okojie also sent them . Which means, we were all there for the same mission-- to find out what was lacking in the school.

The swiftness with which Dorry Okojie responded to the video and mobilized people for visitation to the school could only have been the product of his patriotic zest, warm- hearted humanity and desire to ensure that pupils learn and  are taught under very conducive environment.

Less than a week after the report on the school, which confirmed the viral video, was made available to Dr Dorry Okojie, he has through the instrumentality his Foundation ,  responded by buying new chairs and desks for the school. This was done yesterday.

Additionally, he has also fixed the borehole in the school, which was not originally part of the reasons why we visited.

Dr Dorry Okojie's intervention is yet another revelation of his commitment to growth continuity in infrastructures in Edo State and expansiveness of his love for education.

What he has just done evinces a quality, rare among men --which is matching promises with actions. That's the true definition of integrity.

Unarguably, the Headmistress and teachers, are pleasantly surprised that an investigation with visitation made last week has yielded results beyond what they could ever have imagined.
