JUNE 12: LP URGES EDO PEOPLE TO BE RESILIENCE IN DEPEENING DEMOCRACY ... Labour Party set to usher in true Democratic values in Edo State - Sam Uroupa... urges Obaseki to conduct free, fair LG elections


The Publicity Secretary and image maker  of the Edo State Labour Party (LP), Comrade Sam Uroupa, has assured that Edo State Labour Party is set to usher in true democratic values and principles into Edo politics.

He stated this earlier today in a separate statement signed and made available to  news men in Benin city  to mark this year's democracy day anniversary.

According to Sam Oroupa," I salute the courage and resilience of Edo people to ensure democracy is deepened in the State and the country at large in spite of difficult challenges.

" This year's anniversary marks 
  30 years after the popular will of the people was subverted and democracy was strangulated.

" I salute the courage and resilience of Edo people in their steadfastness and unwavering determination to nation building, particularly in their participatory roles  at deepening democracy in the
face of intimidations and brazen insensitivity of retrogressive agents bent on subverting the will of the people.

 The statement noted that,
" I  deeply regretted the ugly experience Edo people went through during last State House of Assembly elections  in Edo state where the PDP led government in the State denied the people of freely making their Democratic choices.

"Edo Labour Party therefore want to  use this opportunity to appeal to the Obaseki led government to allow Edo have a taste of true democracy by conducting a free and faire local government elections in the state because  there are already rumors from credible sources that the results will be written in Government House. 

"Let me therefore use this medium to say that Edo people will resist any attempt to deny them of their democratic choices through intimidations and manipulations".

He therefore advised Godwin Obaseki led administration to provide a level play field to ensure free and fair Edo 2023 local government elections,
the statement counselled.

EDO GUBER 2024: LABOUR PARTY ASPIRANTS AGREE ON JOINT TICKETS, SETTLE FOR ERNEST ABEGBE TO LEAD THE PACK.

The Edo Labour Party Governorship Aspirants across the state have agreed to work together in a joint ticket arrangement.
