EDO 2024: AMB. DR. OKPEBHOLO WAS NOT OUR MEMBER - LP.




The State Publicity Secretary and Image maker of Edo state Labour Party, Comrade Sam Oroupa, has said that the report circulating in some social media platforms that Amb. Dr Odion Cedrac Okpebholo has dumped Labour Party for the All Progressives Congress to pursue his gubernatorial ambition is unfounded and blantant falsehood as he said that Amb. Dr Okpebholo has never been a member of Labour Party.


In a statement issued, signed and made available to the Press in Benin city the Edo state Capital, yesterday, Comrade Oroupa said that Amb. Dr. Odion Cedrac Okpebholo has never been a member of Labour Party.

According to the statement, "the attention of Edo State Labour Party has been drawn to a report circulating in the social media space about the purported dumping of LP to APC by one Amb. Dr. Odion Cedrack Opkebholo for the realization of his purported governorship ambition come 2024. 

"Edo State Labour Party can not recall having him as its member before now. May be he is one of those in the habit of using LP trade marks to print posters in the Internet and spreading it through some support groups to ask people for assistance that they are contesting for governorship under Labour Party

"Our competent, credible and formidable aspirants base who have come to identify with the party are intact and more are still coming to join the Party.

"We do not have him in our records even in his Esan North East LGA . WE do not have his records. Being a member in the past of a support group for Peter Obi Presidential election does not in any way qualify anybody to claim membership of LP. 

"To be a member of Labour Party, you must be properly registered with your ward and Local Government of the Party, obtain your membership card and pay dues promptly, work for the growth and development of the Party.

"It is therefore most laughable on the lame excuse by Dr. Okpebholo that APC has the structure and what it takes to realize his governorship ambition to deliver Edo State. If one may ask, what structure is he talking about? 

"The structures that PDP and APC have operated over the years that have kept Nigeria and Edo State in particular grounded and hopeless? The structures of bad economy and high cost of living? The structures that can not provide good governance and jobs for our teaming youths over the years? A clueless and rudderless structure on a steady rock and roll horse on a motion without movement?

"Labour Party platform is for those who are tired of the old order and believes that a new Nigeria is still possible. 

"That is why we promised to give the best to Edo people through a competitive and transparent primaries, devoid of any godfather interference. We have no business with people who have no capacity and the requisite strengths, character and integrity to deliver. In LP we put all the cards on the table for the people to make the best choice, the statement concluded.

The Edo Labour Party Governorship Aspirants across the state have agreed to work together in a joint ticket arrangement.
