Amb.Dr. Martin Uhomoibhi Promises To Create Vibrant Economy To Improve Quality Of Life Of Edo People



A leading aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the 2024 Edo governorship election, Ambassador,(Dr) Martin Uhomoibhi has said that he has decided to come into the Edo 2024 governorship election so as to have the opportunity to create a vibrant economy to improve the quality of life of every Edo person.

He made the disclosure earlier today in an interactive session with the Edo state journalists in a Press briefing at the Secretariat of the Edo council of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists in Benin City the Edo state capital.

Ambassador Dr Martin Uhomoibhi, an Ewatto, Esan South East Local government area born Oxford University graduate, a career diplomat, said he decided to join the contest for the Edo governorship race so as to change the narrative and improve the quality of life of Edo people through the creation of a vibrant economy.


The Ambassador who has represented Nigeria in various Countries of the world, the longest serving Permanent Secretary in the history of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that, "Edo is enormously blessed with human and material resources but what we have not had is leadership and this is where I am coming in to provide the needed leadership to drive all other variables that will drive the economy to provide the socio economic infrastructure that would improve the quality of life of the people 

The Visiting Professor of Igbinedion University Okada, added that, "Nigeria has done so much for me and providing the needed leadership at this time is a sure way to pay back.

"When I was growing up in Nigeria, as an undergraduate, I had 3 jobs waiting for me. As an undergraduate, you would be interviewed for a job at your final year at the University and while you are rounding up your Youths Service, you see your name in the newspaper as to where you have been employed to work. Has Nigeria become poorer today? No, I don't think so.

"So, I am here to declare my intention to contest for the governorship position in the election coming up next year because it is possible for Edo state to become a role model and we are the ones to make it possible 

" I have the character, I have the integrity and I have the global network connection to propel the needed leadership that would make the difference in the Edo narrative.

" I will serve Edo people in a fair, humane, professional and God fearing manner and I will mobilize all available resources, human, natural and material resources to achieve the Edo state of our dream".

The Edo Labour Party Governorship Aspirants across the state have agreed to work together in a joint ticket arrangement.
