Lack of patriotism towards the socio-economic and political framework of the Nigeria society has immensely contributed to apathy in civic responsibilities and political engagement which has in turn orchestrated the weakening of democratic and public institutions and the rise in corruption. 

Without patriots to hold leaders accountable, the government may become unresponsive to the needs of the people. Instead of the pursuit of the general good, leaders entrusted with the procurement of the general plenitude focus on short-term personal gains over long-term general interests which hinders economic growth and development, because such individuals prioritize self-interest over the collective good.

 However, every society, regardless of its cultural or linguistic background, is endowed with individuals driven by a profound sense of purpose – individuals who prioritize the well-being of others above all else. These few visionaries, imbued with intellect and compassion, emerge as symbols of hope, offering solutions to the challenges of their time.

Selfless, philanthropic, and deeply caring, these individuals embody the true spirit of patriotism. They dedicate themselves to serving their communities, inspiring and empowering those around them. Hon. Joseph Ikpea stands as a shining example of such patriots, a true asset to Edo State and the nation, Nigeria.

The Chairman of Ikpoba Hill Youths Association, Comrade Kingsley Osemwigie has admonished the protesters in Ikpoba Hill in Ikpoba Okha local government area of Edo State to shun violence as they participate in the nationwide protest which began yesterday, the 1st of November 2024. Catholic Priest dumps Christianity for traditional religion after completing PhD on rainmaking

Dr Echezona Obiagbaosogu, a Catholic priest, has abandoned Christianity for African traditional religion after his PhD project. His PhD project is said to be on rainmaking in Igboland and he said the insight he gained during his research made him change the course of his spiritual pursuit. According to reports , Obiagbaosogu, who teaches African Traditional Religion at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, in Anambra State, said he was fascinated by the traditional African spirituality and the art of rainmaking. After defending his PhD Dissertation titled “Rainmaking and Control in Igbo African Medicine,” on Wednesday, he said Africa possesses enormous resources and value which have been eroded by colonial powers.
