Dr Festus Alenkhe Advocates For Stiffer Penalty For CDA As Pinnacle Builders Celebrates Four Years Anniversary



The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Edo State Council, Dr Festus Alenkhe, has called on the Edo State government to dust up the legislation that prohibits the activities of Community Development Association (CDA) and reinforce its full implementation in the state.

He made the call while speaking to Journalists at the venue of the four year anniversary celebration of Pinnacle Builders in Benin City the Edo State capital, earlier today.

Dr Alenkhe who was one of the recipients of an honor award by the organization, thanked Pinnacle Builders for the award and said it will spur him to do more for Edo state and the journalism profession. He called on the Edo State government to dust up the legislation that prohibits the activities of Community Development Association CDA in the state 

According to him, " Some communities have started creating tension as their Youths have begun collecting money from developers. They collect money when you buy the plot of land, when you lay your building foundation, they will come and collect money, when the building gets to window level they will come and collect money, when you are roofing, they will also come and seize your tools until you pay them money, they will come when you are sinking your borehole etc. He therefore asked the government to dust up the bill with a view to strengthening the legislation to curb the menace of CDA.

He advised journalists in Edo State of the need to always balance their stories at all times and Urged them to write positive stories that will attract developers to Edo State.

Also speaking at the event, was the Edo State Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Fred Ituah, who was also honoured by the organizers of the event.

He appreciated the organisers of the program for honoring him with the award and promised to continue to do the best to support the government of Senator Monday Okpebholo the Executive governor of Edo State by intimating the Edo people with the programs of the government 


Fred Itua, said the award has proven to him that the citizens of the state appreciate what he is doing, adding that, it will spur him to be more committed to his job while commending the state governor, Monday Okpebholo for giving him the opportunity to serve in his government as the Chief Press Secretary while also assuring Edo people that he will continue to update the people of all government programs in the state.

Speaking on the essence of the award, the Chief Executive Officer, Pinnacle Builder Homes and Properties, Samson Areladia, said it was to recognize and appreciate those who have impacted on the society using their intelligence to contribute to the growth of the state.
