Edo Online Media Practitioners Inaugurate New Executives


Benin City — Online journalists in Edo State under the umbrella of Edo Online Media Practitioners have inaugurated a new executives to lead the association for the next three years, with a mandate to reposition digital news management in the state.

The officers were elected at its Congress held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, in Benin.


The newly inaugurated executives are:
Sam Dada Ayokhai — Chairman
Charity Ozigbo-Esere — Vice chairman 
Chris Akhabue — Secretary
Kingsley Abavo — Asst Secretary 
Stephen Ehichoya Odion — Treasurer
Monday Oise — Financial Secretary 
Lucky Isibor — Auditor

A former Editor of Nigerian Observer, Enahoro Eubaldus, who presided over the oath-taking, urged the new leadership to raise standards in digital journalism to match peers nationwide.

In a remarks after taking the oath, Sam Dada Ayokhai who was elected Chairman said the body would operate in line with the NUJ constitution, meet members’ expectations, and seek stakeholders’ cooperation to secure online media’s rightful place in journalism.

Ayokhai paid tribute to pioneer chairman Otunba Mike Aladenikan, now image maker at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, for laying the foundation of the body. 

Thereafter, the Chairman inaugurated a standing Screening Committee, chaired by Mr Eubaldus Enahoro, with Isaac Olamikan and Joseph Kanjo as members, to vet new applicants.

Catholic Priest dumps Christianity for traditional religion after completing PhD on rainmaking

Dr Echezona Obiagbaosogu, a Catholic priest, has abandoned Christianity for African traditional religion after his PhD project. His PhD project is said to be on rainmaking in Igboland and he said the insight he gained during his research made him change the course of his spiritual pursuit. According to reports , Obiagbaosogu, who teaches African Traditional Religion at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, in Anambra State, said he was fascinated by the traditional African spirituality and the art of rainmaking. Authenticate Your Property With Relevant Documents Elder Council Of Amagba Urged Property Owners

The Elder’s Council of Amagba Community in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State on Monday, 9th of March, 2026 requested property owners to meet the property verification and authentication committee with their relevant documents to establish the authenticity of their claims. This was stated in a press statement signed by Omoregbe Osunde and Nosakhare Igbinidu, Chairman and Secretary respectively of the Amagba Community Land Verification Committee. The Committee said that this become important due to the incessant complaints by property owners in Amagba Village of encroachments and re-allocation of their properties. The statement further urged the property owners to meet with the committee at the Amagba Community Town Hall, Monday to Friday between the hours of 10.00am to 5.00pm daily.
