SENATOR IKPEA REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO PURPOSEFUL REPRESENTATION, UNVEILS EMPOWERMENT PLANS FOR EDO CENTRAL

The Senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Drugs and Narcotics, Senator Joseph Igiagbe Ikpea, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to providing purposeful and people-oriented representation for the constituents of Edo Central.

Senator Ikpea made the declaration on Friday while addressing thousands of enthusiastic supporters at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Edo Central Senatorial District Mega Rally, an event that witnessed an impressive turnout of party faithful, stakeholders and prominent political leaders from across the district and the state.

Some of the distinguished personalities present at the event included the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo; the Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Senator Adams Oshiomhole; the APC State Chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe; the APC Deputy State Chairman, Hon. Sylvester Aigboboh; the APC Edo North Senatorial Leader, Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe (Rtd.); the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku; the APC State Secretary, Engr. Lawrence Okah; as well as several other prominent leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Addressing the gathering, the lawmaker disclosed that comprehensive plans have been concluded to roll out large-scale empowerment programmes aimed at improving the livelihoods of women, youths, artisans, traders and other vulnerable groups within the senatorial district. According to him, the initiative is designed to promote economic self-reliance, stimulate local enterprise and improve the overall well-being of the people.

The senator also used the occasion to caution young people against the abuse of hard drugs, describing substance abuse as a serious threat to public health, personal development and societal stability. He stressed that drug abuse fuels crime, destroys the future of young people and undermines national development.

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Drugs and Narcotics, Senator Ikpea pledged to intensify advocacy and awareness campaigns against drug abuse while pursuing policies and programmes that would expand employment opportunities and youth empowerment across Edo Central.

He further commended the leadership of the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, applauding what he described as the governor's practical and results-driven approach to governance. According to Senator Ikpea, the developmental projects currently underway across the state demonstrate a clear commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy and have significantly changed the narrative of governance in Edo State.

The lawmaker called on the people of Edo Central to sustain their support for Governor Okpebholo and the All Progressives Congress, emphasizing that continued collaboration between the government and the people would accelerate development and ensure greater benefits for communities across the state.

The rally served as a major demonstration of solidarity within the APC in Edo Central, with party supporters reaffirming their confidence in the leadership and developmental agenda of both Senator Ikpea and Governor Okpebholo.
