Ogbidi made the declaration during a support visit to Hon. Charity where he said the movement had conducted further engagements and assessments of the political situation and the acceptance of the party across Ovia and Edo State.
According to him, Hon Charity's records as a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, particularly in the area of constituency representation and legislative interventions, has demonstrated his capacity to represent the people at the federal level.
Ogbidi said the legislator had, within about three and a half years in office, facilitated the construction of eight blocks of eight block classrooms across the constituency, adding that the projects were furnished and equipped with learning materials and other facilities.
He also attributed the provision and installation of six transformers in several communities to Hon Charity, saying the interventions had helped improve access to electricity in the affected areas.
“Over 47 bills are also to his credit. He is active, intellectually balanced and has demonstrated a high level of performance as a legislator,” Ogbidi said.
He described Hon Charity decision to seek election to the House of Representatives as an opportunity for the people of Ovia Federal Constituency to benefit from his legislative experience at the national level.
Ogbidi further announced the TDM’s commitment to mobilising support for Hon Charity's candidacy, urging members of the movement across Ovia to work for the success of the NDC candidate.
“We wholeheartedly declare our unflinching and total support for Hon. Charity. We are convinced that his performance, popularity and acceptance will strengthen the NDC’s prospects across Ovia,” he said.
The TDM coordinator also urged members of the party and residents of the constituency to remain committed to peaceful and democratic participation throughout the electoral process.
He said the responsibility of political groups should not end with campaigning, stressing the importance of protecting the integrity of the ballots and ensuring that votes cast by citizens are properly accounted for.
“Our responsibility is also to defend the votes that Nigerians, particularly the people of Edo State and Ovia, will cast. We are prepared to protect the integrity of the votes through lawful and democratic means,” Ogbidi said.
He therefore called on the people of Ovia Federal Constituency to support candidates based on their records, competence and capacity to represent the interests of the people.
