As Edo people begin the search for a successor to the incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki in November, 2024, stakeholders in the Edo State project have started outlining the qualities and calibre of the person they would want for the occupier of the exalted office. Among such qualities are the persons' humane disposition and commitment to service , who will run the government with human face, a bridge between the youths and the elderly with enough energy to withstand the rigours of governance , ability to prudently manage the state's resources without dipping his hands into the Edo State public till, and a detribalised person who sees the whole Edo State as his home. The Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has passed a vote of Implicit Confidence on the Executive Officers of the union ably led by Comrade Festus Alenkhe. The congress which was attended by over 100 journalists across the state passed the Vote of Implicit Confidence on the Edo NUJ leadership for its developmental strides after assessing the Exco's mid-term score card. The congress called for sustenance of its welfare packages for journalists in the state. Fight Cancer Global, an international donor agency, in collaboration with Oke Creative Future Foundation, yesterday, donated hospital equipment to some PHCS in Benin city the Edo state Capital.
